Microsoft removes Teams from Microsoft 365 and Office 365

September 14, 2023; Important update on Microsoft taking Teams out of Online Services for Enterprise customers in the European Economic Area and Switzerland:

A Microsoft spokesman has confirmed that though ‘net new customers’ means customers who ‘never ever’ had Office 365 E1, E3, E3 or Microsoft 365 E3, E5 in their tenant, existing customers changing partners or purchasing channel after October 1st 2023 will need to buy the ‘EEA (no teams)’ product, despite the fact that these customers might have one of the products today.

Are you an Enterprise Agreement customer and you want to change to purchasing through a CSP in the future? That means you only can buy the new products without Teams. When you want teams, you have to subscribe to a separate Teams EEA subscription.
A solution could be to order óne of the ‘current’ products with Teams before October 1st, 2023.
For CSP customers who grow and want to change to Enterprise Agreement or Microsoft Products and Services Agreement, it is the same mechanism: only the new products without Teams.

But … the discussion isn’t over yet. Once there is news, or an updated statement from Microsoft we will inform you through this article. When you want to discuss or have us help you order your CSP licenses (just to be sure), please contact us.

Starting October 1st, 2023, Microsoft removes Teams as a standard service from Microsoft 365 E3/E5 and Office 365 E1/E3/E5 for customers in the European Economic Area and Switzerland.
Customers currently subscribed to these suites will be able to do so in the future. Even after October 1st. Wonder if this applies to you? Please contact us!
Customers who are not subscribed to one of these subscription suites and want to start after October 1st, can only choose the subscription suites without Teams (for a EUR 2 per subscription per month lower price). When they want to use Teams anyway (as a alternative to Slack, Zoom, Meetup or Webex), they can choose a Teams subscription for EUR 5 per user per month (all-in-all, subscriptions get a EUR3 per user per month price increase …).

SMB customers who want to subscribe to Microsoft 365 Business Basic, Microsoft 365 Business Standard or Microsoft 365 Business Premium do have a choice after October 1st. They may choose the slightly cheaper subscription without Teams, or choose one of the current subscriptions. They are not forced into the subscription without Teams.
The same counts for customers choosing Office 365 F3, Microsoft 365 F1 or Microsoft 365 F3 for their Frontline workers (employees without an office job).
