Microsoft 365 Copilot (is now) available to SMBs

Update 16-01-2024
Starting January 15, 2024, Microsoft made Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365 available to SME’s. The minimum license requirement of 300 licenses has been lifted. Besides, Copilot for Microsoft 365 is now available through the Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) program. Copilot for Microsoft 365 is an add-on license to Microsoft 365 Business Premium / Standard, Microsoft 365 E3/E5 and Office 365 E3/E5. Interesting to you? We can have you started in minutes. Update 04-12-2023
Despite the fact that Microsoft announced Microsoft 365 Business plans as an eligible base license for Microsoft 365 Copilot and adding it as a product under the Microsoft Customer Agreement (that is amongst others the Agreement-type through the Cloud Solution Provider Program, targeted on SMBs) … things seemed to have suddenly changed …
As per December 2023 Product Terms Microsoft 365 Business Standard and Premium do no longer qualify as a base license for (new name) Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365 . And purchasing minimums are still 300 licenses. With that, we draw the conclusion that most likely Microsoft will keep Copilot away from SMBs.
Might there be any updates, we will inform you through this article.

///

In the contrary to what Microsoft announced at introduction, Microsoft 365 Copilot seems to be available to SMBs after all.
With the November 2023 update of the Microsoft Product Terms (terms of use for Microsoft Products and Cloud), we see Microsoft 365 Copilot availability under the Microsoft Customer Agreement (MCA). That’s the Agreement customers enter into when doing business through a Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) partner.
To be honest, Quexcel is such a CSP partner and today, November 2nd, we do not find Microsoft 365 Copilot on the pricelist. When there is an update, we will let you know.

Update 02-11-2023
A spokesman of Microsoft has confirmed that though there are no limitations to Microsoft Customer Agreement in the Product Terms, Microsoft for now will only offer Microsoft 365 Copilot to Enteprise-MCA customers only (besides EA/EAS). The reason that the SMB subscription suites (see below) are mentioned as a License Prerequisite is because with that Microsoft will not have to update the Product Terms when they make Microsoft 365 Copilot available to SMBs through CSP Partners. Patience is needed …
