Microsoft Project is a series of productivity solutions for professional project management. Recently Microsoft changed the names of the various subscriptions to align better with their ‘naming convention’ of ‘Plans’.
Here is an overview:
When the number in the ‘Plan’ rises, the amount of features and possibilities increase. Customer looking for basic project management capabilities to be managed online could choose for the Project Plan 1.
When you want a desktop application to professionally manage your projects, Plan 3 would fit your needs. For more enhanced project management and collaboration with project team members, Plan 5 is the best choice. Please see all included features in this comparison chart at the Microsoft website.
Customers who don’t want to use a subscription based project management solution can still choose the old school perpetual licenses through Microsoft Volume Licensing. Those customers have a choice between Project Standard and Project Professional (including a Project Server Device CAL). For centralized storage and management of projects, Project Server is available.
